Teach, Talk, Bind and Write

Interesting read today out of Deuteronomy 6:4-9

I'm currently using Portraits of Devotion by Beth Moore in my personal study time.  The insight she provides on the Jewish culture and practices intrigue me to dig deeper.  This morning in particular, I broke down what it means to pass on the love for God's Word to our children; hence the title, "Teach, Talk, Bind and Write"

A few of the stand outs for me:

TEACH, sharpen or whet the appetite of their heart and mind;

TALK: declare, pray, warn, discuss bless, encourage, sing, speak well, utter, promote, give, wish, stir up, affirm, describe, quote, lament, pass on, friendly; present it in love; it makes a difference; stir up their interest.

BIND: to gird physically or mentally; bind together with their hearts; actively pursue.

WRITE: entrances, door posts, side posts, door frames of their hearts.

The Law of the LORD (Yaweh, Covenant Maker, Covenant Keeper) the first thing we awaken to think of, speak of, bind ourselves to and write upon our hearts and the hearts of our children and grandchildren.

It's all about the transfer; from me to my children and on and on... a legacy they can see and remember in the good times, hard times and critical times.

Would that I would yield my flesh, surrender my heart, and be obedient to Teach, Talk, Bind and Write for Him.
